I started my coaching experience during the pandemic. At that time people were locked inside their homes and in that situation there is the need to find something to cure boredom. I was contacted by a parent of a 10 year old boy who was keen on playing and learning chess. We did lessons online with video calls on Messenger.I would show him several positions and we would also play some practice games. Few months later several other parents contacted me and at one point I was coaching 4 children at once. The challenge soon became bigger, as during the summer of 2022 I was faced with a new obstacle. Coaching face to face at a summer school. It was a very fun and beneficial experience because I learned the difficulties of managing an entire classroom while teaching them chess at the same time. Some of the children understandably weren't so interested in chess so I had to find ways to try to get them to at least show some interest.
